Mechanical Engineering Minor
Choices and Challenges
Mechanical Engineers (ME) are often called the "general practitioners" of engineering and the field offers a wide range of career choices: automotive, aerospace, electrical, solar, and materials processing. The challenges encountered by mechanical engineers are as varied as the industries in which they work. Students majoring in chemistry, math, or any of Alfred University's engineering programs will find mechanical engineering to be an ideal minor.
Hands-on Experience
Small class sizes and individual attention from a dedicated faculty in both classroom and laboratory
provide students with an ideal setting in which to hone their computing and problem-solving skills.
Research in the School of Engineering is conducted with state-of-the-art equipment housed in over 40,000 square feet of laboratory space. We pride ourselves on not only offering the best facilities in the field, but also in the incredible access that our students have to them.
Our Graduates
Alfred University students are employed by notable companies and organizations as engineers, researchers, and technologists and many of our graduates attend prestigious graduate schools. No matter what they may choose to do after graduation, students who have experience in Alfred University's engineering programs are well-rounded individuals who understand both the principles and practice of their selected field of study. Learn more about Careers in Mechanical Engineering from a brochure produced by our Career Development Center.
