Research and Professional Programs
Research
in the Kazuo Inamori School of Engineering ranges
from basic science investigations to the development
of products for commercialization. Annually, the
School earns ~$5M in research awards from industry,
foundations, and government agencies. Research not
only enhances the educational experience of our students,
but also promotes local, national, and global economic
development. In an NSF-sponsored study, Innovation
Associates recognized Alfred University as one of
ten small research institutions with an exemplary
record of technology transfer and commercialization
relative to its size (see
press release). For more
information, check out our research centers, facilities,
and faculty research interests.
For over 100 years, the School has maintained strong ties with industry. The School offers short courses/workshops, conferences, and other professional development activities to promote local and regional workforce development.
